FAQ

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE QUARTZ AND THE MECHANICAL MOVEMENTS?

In quartz watches, the standard of time is electromagnetic oscillations produced by a generator based on a quartz resonator. The source of energy is battery. You do not need to wind up quartz watch. In mechanical clocks, time is measured by the mechanical oscillations of a pendulum or by a balance-helix system. Energy sources are weights or spring. You should wind up mechanical watch every day at the same time. If there is an automatic winding mechanism then you should wind up the watch once, at the beginning of work. Hereafter the watch will be operated by an automatic winding system provided that the product is operated for at least 10 hours a day.

WHAT IS THE WATERPROOFNESS OF THE WATCH?

Water Resistance (WR) is a measure indicating the ability of watch to operate in conditions of high humidity or under water. WR 30 (3 ATM) covers light splashes, washing hands, it is strictly forbidden to swim. WR 50 (5 ATM) shows that you can swim slowly (no sudden movements), but you cannot dive. WR 100 (10 ATM) tells that you can dive to shallow depths. No watch allows taking a steam bath: when heated, watch lose their tightness, and the sealing gums lose their properties, as well.

CAN I CHANGE THE BATTERY AT HOME?

To replace the battery, we recommend that you contact specialized workshops since the work of a watchmaker requires specific conditions: cleanliness, a good tool, and certain qualifications.

WHAT IS THE TIME OF USE FOR THE QUARTZ WATCH BATTERY?

While producing Lincor watches, we use only original batteries. On average, the battery life is two years if the rules of operation are strictly observed. Violation of the rules specified in the product certificate can reduce the battery life and require more frequent replacement. We pay your attention that the manufacturer does not bear warranty obligations on the replacement of the quartz watches batteries.

WHAT TO DO IF WATER PENETRATED INTO WATCH?

You should take your watch to the watch workshop as soon as possible. Do not delay because details of the movement may be corroded and you will have to pay a lot for repairs. Only the master will be able to assess the damage caused by water — the master will open the watch, dry it if necessary, lubricate, replace the battery in quartz watch, check the condition of the sealing gum, crown, etc. In case of significant damage, it may be necessary to replace parts of the movement. Please, read the rules of operation carefully and the watch will serve you for many years.
